BMW 자동차 그룹이 BMW, MINI, 롤스로이스의 브랜드별 100주년 기념 모델을 17일 공개했다. 글로벌 자동차 시장을 선도하는 BMW가 지향하는 미래지향적인 기술 모토와 혁신적인 디자인과 기능, 미래의 라이프스타일을 담았다는 설명이다.


특히 주목받은 모델은 롤스로이스가 선보인 비전카 103EX. 이전 롤스로이스가 개발했던 미래지향적 모델 100EX, 101EX, 102EX의 계보를 잇는 모델로 미래 럭셔리카가 지향하는 방향을 보여준다. 더 이상 운전자의 공간이 필요없는 차 내부에는 런던에서 제작한 최고급 아이보리 울 카펫으로 마무리됐다. 탑승자의 시야를 가리는 스티어링 휠이나 운전석이 없기 때문에 뛰어난 공간감각을 제공한다. 주행 중 필요한 정보는 차량 앞쪽에 설치된 투명 OLED 화면으로 언제든지 확인할 수 있다.

롤스로이스의 상징 중 하나인 아날로그 시계는 미래 콘셉트카에도 적용된다. OLED 스크린 상단 중앙부에 위치한 아날로그 시계는 롤스로이스를 설립한 엔지니어 헨리 로이스의 겸손한 시작과 궁극의 럭셔리 시대를 상징한다.

탑승 공간의 제약을 없애기 위해 전기모터를 휠 허브에 장착했고 기존 엔진룸이 필요없게 되자 앞바퀴 뒤 쪽에 짐을 실을 수 있는 적재 공간을 창조했다. 이 공간은 차량의 도착과 함께 자동으로 열리도록 설계되었다. 롤스로이스의 두 창업자인 찰스 롤스와 헨리 로이스에서 영감을 얻은 두 개의 그랜드 투어러 여행가방이 함께 제공된다. 휠은 26인치 이지만 폭이 좁고, 65개의 개별 알루미늄 부품을 수작업으로 조립해 제작된다.
