김영록 전라남도지사가 21일 신안군청에서 열린 광주·전남 행정통합 도민공청회에서 행정통합 추진 방안을 설명하고 있다.[세계로컬타임즈] 김영록 전라남도지사는 최근 광주·전남 행정통합 도민공청회에서 시군구 통합과 관련한 질문을 받고, “시·도 통합과 별개의 문제로, 작은 군 지역을 인위적으로 통합하는 것에는 찬성하지 않는다”고 밝혔다.

특히 군이 통합되면 어느 한 지역은 급속도로 소멸위기가 높아질 수 있다는 게 김영록 지사의 설명이다.

다만, “주민이 원하거나, 꼭 통합해야 할 필요성이 있는 지역이 있을 수 있는데, 이런 곳은 찬성이다”고 말했다.
